Head Start Federal Performance Standards have been adopted to ensure that every Head Start program provides the services necessary to meet the goals and needs of each family enrolled in the Head Start program. Each component is unique in the services that it provides, yet works together as a whole to ensure each student and famililes individual needs are met. The components of Lamar County Head Start are:

• Health (including dental needs and nutrition) and Mental Health
• Family Engagement
• Social Services and Transition
• Parent Involvement
• Disabilties

In addition, Lamar County Head Start continually provides programs for staff and parents to encourage life long learning and the importance of parents being their child's first teacher.
