The Health Component assists parents in all aspects of the child’s physical and emotional health. Head Start federal regulations require that every child has a physical, dental and mental health screening within the first forty-five days of their enrollment. Written permissions to perform all screenings are obtained from the parent/guardian of each child prior to any of the procedures taking place. Results of the screenings are shared with parents. Follow-ups and/or ongoing monitoring of areas of concern are performed as dictated by the results. Health and Social Services staff persons are available to assist parents in addressing their child’s health, dental and mental health needs throughout the school year.
