I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Sic’ Em, Bears!!!
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I have a Lifetime Provisional Teaching Certificate for Grades 1-8 with a Reading endorsement. I also hold certifications for Early Childhood-Grade 4 Generalist and Special Education, grades Early Childhood through 12.
I have attended multiple Texas Autism Conferences and several Frog Street Early Childhood Splash Conferences. I attend various workshops at the Region 8 Education Service Center to stay abreast of the most up to date trends in education.
This is my fourth year with Paris ISD. I am very excited to be a Wildcat!!
I taught First Grade in the Garland Independent School district for 10 years. After getting married, I taught First Grade in the Mt. Enterprise Independent School District for one and a half years. I taught at ABC Learning Center in Paris before returning to public school. I taught the Program for Preschool Children with Disabilities (PPCD) at North Lamar for eight years before moving to the Second and Third Grade Life Skills class on the Everett campus of North Lamar. Young children are my passion and I am excited to be teaching at Lamar County Head Start!
I have been married to Henry for 20+ years. He is the pastor at East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church. He also serves in leadership positions on two Volunteer Fire Departments and is a member of the Paris EMS Reserves. We have a home with some acreage in the Novice community.
We have two children. Our daughter recently graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She is a Registered Nurse working at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. She is a newlywed married to our wonderful son in law Nathan. Our son was diagnosed with Autism at age two and a half. He lives with us and is on the Volunteer Fire Departments with his dad, as well as being an Auxillary member of the Paris EMS Reserves.
I love my critters! We have four cats: Butterscotch, Licorice, Pepper and Heidi. Pepper was a teeny tiny stray kitten that found our house and Heidi rode home from school with me in the engine of our truck! We have two dogs: Scooter, the West Highland Terrier and Buster, the 160 pound Bernese Mountain Dog. We also have some goats!
Teaching young children is my passion! When I am not in the classroom, I am usually thinking about things I can do to make my classroom better and things my students will enjoy. I love genealogy and researching my family roots. I enjoy history, reading, Netflix, travel and just relaxing at home with my family and pets.
